The Creation Testifies:  The Sinukuan Tree of the Philippines!!

The Sinukuan Tree is described as a shrub about 10 feet tall, native to the Philippines.  You can purchase them.  There are quite a few pictures if you search.

From Google A.I. Overview when asked what the Philippine word sinukuan means (ignore the yellow coloring):

In Philippine language and mythology, "Sinukuan" (or Sinukwan) signifies "one to whom others surrender" or "the one who surrenders." It's often associated with the legendary figure who is believed to reside in Mount Arayat. The name is derived from the root word "suko," meaning "to surrender"

Thank you, Google!

     And from Wikipedia:

"Aring Sinukûan was the sun god of war and death, taught the early inhabitants the industry of metallurgy, woodcutting, rice culture, and waging war. He had three children, namely, Munag Sumalâ, the golden serpent god who represented dawn; Lakandanup, the god of gluttony who represented the sun at noontime; and Gatpanapun, the noble god who only knew pleasure and represented the afternoon." End quote

And what if the one sun, Munag Sumala, happened to be a distant memory of Shem, from whom Jesus' Earthly descendency would come?  What does that name mean in that language?  Again from Google A.I. Overview:

"More broadly, in Kapampangan, the term "Munag Sumalâ" refers to "the radiance by which you can tell that the morning is about to break out". It signifies the first light, not just of the sun, but also of the moon that's about to rise."  End quote.

Both the rising morning sun and the moon are lights that dispels the darkness, just as scripture describes Jesus to be, using almost identical language.  Consider Luke chapter 1, though scripture holds other similar passages:

     76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High;
for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation
through the forgiveness of their sins,
78 because of the tender mercy of our God,
by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
79 to shine on those living in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

End Quote

I have genuinely been very impressed with the Philippine people over the years, and have even been coat-tail relations with a couple, and I have visited the Philippines while in the US Navy.  They are people with all the warts and wrinkles that come with being people, but that said...they are an awfully good people based on those I've met.  And very talented!  Great musical performers, for instance.    There is a saying about the best export of the Philippines being Philippinos!  But I never have known about this type of wood...Sinukuan tree/shrub wood, until recently.  Jesus was hung on a tree, so how odd that His symbol is embedded in a tree.  And people say that the Ark, Noah's Ark, was a precursor or prophetic symbol of Jesus because you entered its protection through an opening in its side, (the spear in Jesus' side likewise let out atoning Blood and enlivening Water, but in the Ark's case that is where the entry door was) and all of Earth's living land based life forms that were saved through the Great Flood were saved via the Ark, etc., which came to rest on Mount Ararat.  Did you see in the caption below the picture above that according to the old Philippine belief this 'god' from ancient times was believed to reside on Mt. Arayat?  And he had three sons.  Is this a corrupted vestige of a memory of the real Ark coming to rest on the real Mt. Ararat?  The name of the mountain sounds similar, there were the three sons of Noah, etc.  And oddly, Jesus 'surrendered' His life for our salvation, resting in apparent death on the cross.  (Noah's Ark came to 'rest' on Mt. Ararat scripture says.)  And also, we Christians 'surrender' our lives to Jesus, asking Him to be our Lord, to forgive us our ugly sins and trespasses, and to please accept and redeem our souls for eternal salvation with Him in Heaven.

Rightly or wrongly, whether it's intended by God I couldn't say, but you certainly could draw some comparisons to holy things spoken of in the Bible when you consider the Sinukuan Tree.  Thank you, Philippines, for giving us an interesting part of the Creation, to consider.  It says in the Bible that the Creation itself testifies to its author's identity.  May God bless you to faith in Jesus throughout your beautiful island nation.
